"Merging 60s soul with 80s thrash and 90s stoner metal, keep an eye on the styles and sounds of Invasion, tipped for big things in 2008.
The three-piece formed in London in 2007. Finding - amazingly - that there was a lack of club nights in the capital for bands playing "fantasy-based soulful stoner rock", Invasion started its own: Skill Wizard.
The band has since appeared at nights such as Another Music=Another Kitchen, Delete Yourself, Club Motherf*cker and Real Gold. After seeing them perform at Skill Wizard, Invasion were asked to support Chrome Hoof on their December tour.
Invasion are Marek on guitar, Chan on vocals/keys and Zel on drums. The band's sound is all the more remarkable when you consider that they don't even have a bass player and, in the traditionally male-dominated world of hard rock, two of the three members are female.
Jason from Simian Mobile Disco is producing Invasion's debut album for a release this autumn through Universal offshoot This Is Music. The band is also set to play the Download festival in Donington this June.
